About Me
Who is behind the keyboard.
Hi! I'm Steven, a software architect and engineer. I design systems and then build the software that runs on them — a decade of it on large scale platforms in telecom, and now on assessment and qualification software at Pearson. I have a Bachelors of Computer Science from Colorado State University.
I build agentically. My loop is spec, delegate, review, verify — I direct coding agents the way I'd direct a team, which puts the distance between an idea and a working version of it at hours instead of weeks. The home tab is the receipt: most of what's there went from an empty repo to something you can play in a day or two.

What I Do
designSystems
I start at the shape of the problem: requirements, data model, service boundaries, failure modes, and the contracts between them. Most of what a system will cost to run and change is decided before anyone writes a line, so that is where the attention goes.
shipWithAgents
Spec, delegate, review, verify. I drive coding agents the way I'd drive a team — tight specs, real acceptance criteria, and a review pass I actually trust — and verify the result before it ships rather than taking it on faith. It collapses weeks into days.
prototypeToProve
The fastest way to settle an argument about a product is to build the thing and look at it. I turn vague ideas into working software quickly, so the design conversation happens over something real instead of a mockup.
buildFullStack
Front to back, in whatever the problem calls for. Front ends in Vue, React, Angular and vanilla JS; APIs and services in Node, Java, Python and PHP; realtime over websockets and peer-to-peer. The language is an implementation detail, the interfaces are not.
modelData
Choosing the right persistence layer and shaping the data around how it actually gets read. I've worked across relational, key-value and document stores — SQL, Redis, Couchbase, ElasticSearch, MongoDB.
runItInProduction
Software that has to stay up. I spent years on fault management for a national network: realtime monitoring, alerting, and automation that had to diagnose and act on its own rather than wake someone at 3am.

Experience
Work history, education, and how I build.
Work History
Senior Software Engineer
- Building transformation software for assessments and qualifications.
Senior Software Engineer
- Worked on the fault management team responsible for collecting and analyzing faults on the LUMEN network.
- Created realtime monitoring systems to gather and display faults for operations centers.
- Built tools for predicting and automating actions for faults to resolve them without human intervention.
Software Engineer
- Full stack developer for the service assurance department, replacing legacy systems and hard clients with modern web interfaces and storage solutions.
